Students Honored by PlayForBurk Foundation
Bartlesville, OK – On Friday, May 20, 2016, the PlayForBurk Foundation awarded two local students awards for demonstrating excellence in community service.
The awards were announced during the morning Bruin time at Madison and during the annual senior scholarships awards assembly at the High School.

The first annual PlayForBurk $1,000 scholarship was given to Kaitlyn Tidwell, a senior at Bartlesville High School for demonstrating excellence in community service and leadership.
Tidwell has been involved in many service activities including the National Honor Society, tutoring programs, and mentorships.
“When Mr. Hansen was talking about the scholarship and foundation itself I had started tearing up,” said Tidwell. “When he got to talking about who had won I knew he was talking about me because he mentioned that the winner shared a birthday with Burk. When he actually called my name it was surreal.”
The Burk Hansen Service Award, which is awarded to one middle school student each year, was given to Kaily Sutterfield, an 8th grade student at Madison Middle School. She performed nearly 500 hours of community service this year.

“The foundation is proud to be associated with such outstanding youth,” said PlayForBurk President Clint Hansen. “They are both are achieving so much in their own life, and are also making time to look outside themselves and serve others. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

The PlayForBurk Foundation is amazing,” said Tidwell. “The foundation not only stands for serving others but also actively promotes involvement in society, which has such a profound impact on everyone involved. Out of all of the scholarships I applied for, this was the one that meant the most to me.”
